The media can't help it

When life (incorrectly) imitates art

In the movie The Girl Can’t Help It (1956), would-be vocalist Jerri Jordan (Jayne Mansfield) craves a domestic life so much that she fakes being a bad singer to avoid stardom. In the end, she achieves just that, and marries her agent—to live happily ever after.

The elite media, however, really does want fame and fortune, but is condemned to continuing failure since they just can’t help themselves. And, they never even seem to learn from their mistakes. This utter failure started well before the advent of Trump Derangement Syndrome, and seems to stem from their mindless promotion of “the next big thing.” Invariably, the next big thing will always mirror the current Leftist talking point.

Perhaps, the best recent example is the media’s catastrophic failure during the COVID plandemic. It would have been bad enough if the Media Mandarin Class would have simply blindly pushed the official line. You know, maintain a six-foot distance, wear masks everywhere, including outdoors, and, worst of all—believe the CDC narrative, even though it changed weekly.

The media also ignored the many voices—at the time—which warned against the COVID “vaccines,” and tried very hard to destroy the reputation of Peter McCullough, at one time, the most published cardiologist in the world, who had by then treated hundreds of COVID patients.

While reporting as “news” the many strange early deaths of vaccinated elite athletes, or their collapse on the field, the media ignored even basic modes of inductive reasoning, preferring not to connect the dots. Likewise, the rise in miscarriages was studiously ignored. Heck, to this day, no one in the elite media is calling out Big Pharma, fearful of losing those precious advertising dollars. Talk about your blood money.

And let’s not forget the 2024 presidential election. Despite dozens of examples showing his obvious impairment, we were treated to endless statements about how Joe Biden is sharp as a tack. But then, Biden fell apart so dramatically during a debate against Trump, that—in unison—all the media prevaricators had to admit that Biden could no longer cut it, as if this suddenly happened overnight.

Alas, what to do? Should the Dems have some sort of national primary? Or, should they anoint Harris, because she is a “Black” female? You already know the answer. They couldn’t help themselves, and applauded the coronation of this candidate. Yet, the hypocrisy didn’t stop there. By any measure, Josh Shapiro would have been a superior running mate for her, but since open antisemitism was now part of the Left’s catechism, that couldn’t be allowed.

Sadly, in the truest soy boy fashion, Shapiro took one for the team. I guess Josh baby couldn’t help it, either. You’ve got to stay loyal to the team that hates you, right?

As to the movies, the carnage is there for all to see. With endless remakes, prequels, sequels, and girlboss fantasies—not to mention race and gender swaps, you’d think big lessons would be learned in light of the abject failures. But, you would be wrong. Indeed, the studio’s answer is to unleash the likes of Rachel Zegler and Milly Alcock to lecture and attack the fans.

Say what you want about the moguls, but they knew they had to control the talent, and they knew how to make money. I wonder what Mayer, Cohn, Goldwyn, Zanuck, and Warner would have to say about the wisdom of having a months-long SAG/AFTRA Writer’s Guild strike at a time when the industry was already hemorrhaging money.

I know…They just can’t help themselves.
