Leak from the Supreme Court

It's only marginally about abortion

I’ll admit that it is great fun watching the Left melt down over this, but let’s start by unpacking a few things.

First of all, such leaks are not exactly unprecedented, and it is downright amazing that few people seem to recall that the Roe decision itself was leaked to Time magazine, just before it was officially announced. Notwithstanding the Time coverage, the leak did not receive much publicity at the time, being overshadowed by the magnitude of the verdict.

It didn’t seem to matter in 1973 that virtually every aspect of Jane Roe’s (Norma McCorvey) case was a lie. She was not gang-raped, and if she wanted an abortion so badly, why didn't she just go to another state to get one?

It was even part of the dissent that by the time the case reached the Supreme Court it was moot, since the baby was already born. Normally, test cases are not moot, and normally test cases do not occur because someone volunteers to purposely create one against their own interest!

Moreover, the tortuous reasoning whereby the 14th amendment was invoked is nonsensical, since at the very time this amendment was ratified there were at least 36 states and territories that already had abortion laws on the books. Yet, none of those were nullified with the 14th. Roe was nothing more than legislation from the Bench, and even liberal feminist icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg criticized the decision.

There is no point in speculating who leaked Alito’s draft decision. While it could have been a law clerk, it could have also been a liberal justice. What is important is the PURPOSE of the leak, and that was to energize the troops of the Left, in an attempt to prevent the predicted bloodbath of the midterm elections.

As to Chief Justice Roberts’ comment that the leak will be investigated, and the perp will be punished, don’t bet the mortgage on that. Politico, the publication that published the leaked draft, isn’t talking, and even if a perp is charged, the DOJ is so incompetent, the chances of them securing a conviction is low. Never mind that the DOJ being unabashedly left-wing is likely pro-perp anyway.

What about those pro-choice precepts?

Men should have no say as to abortion. (Except Harry Andrew Blackmun, Warren Earl Burger, William Orville Douglas, William Joseph Brennan, Jr., Potter Stewart, Thurgood Marshall, and Lewis Franklin Powell, Jr.)

My body, my choice. It’s a stretch that a fetus of part of the woman’s body, but how come this precept does not apply to vaccine mandates?

Every woman should have control over her own body. Control over the body can be exercised to prevent pregnancy in the first place. Besides, an incoming justice cannot even define what a woman is.

If abortion is made illegal, tens of thousands of women will again die from back-alley and clothes-hanger abortions. For decades prior to Roe, 90 percent of abortions were done by physicians in their offices, not in back alleys. It is not true that tens of thousands of women were dying from illegal abortions then either. At any rate, overturning Roe would just send the issue back to the states.

Perhaps most fundamentally, putting a major cultural issue back to the states undermines the sick Leftist fantasy of establishing a functional federal dictatorship, while further destroying the family.

I understand why these freaks are so motivated by self-hatred. What I don’t understand is why the rest of society puts up with it, even for a moment.
