The leadership at Harvard was hoping that the controversy fueled by the incandescently stupid statements of its president Claudine Gay would fade away. And then came the accusations of plagiarism. Notably, such actions would get a mere student at Harvard College expelled. But it is just so gosh-darned important that a black female be in charge, that the university’s highest governing body expressed its support for Gay.
It seems she was only guilty of “inadequate citation,” which of course is laughable. Apparently, in Harvard’s fantasy world, it is okay to grab full paragraphs of the work of Others, as long as adequate citation is given. True, this tradition of faux scholarship goes back to at least the infamous dissertation—and other plagiarized works—of Martin Luther King. Jr.
And, let’s not forget the case of “historian” Doris Kearns Goodwin. She was tagged with numerous instances of plagiarism, as well. Goodwin is an alumna and former faculty member of Harvard, and her violations were downplayed at the time. Still, she had to resign from the Pulitzer board.
The notion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) stems from Affirmative Action, which preceded the Civil Rights Act of 1964, by virtue of a 1961 executive order. This was expanded by a further 1965 executive order. Before long, though, Affirmative Action morphed into a full-blown quota system, even if this was lamented by Hubert Humphrey and other old school liberals. The die was most definitely cast.
Now, here’s what is hiding in plain sight regarding DEI. On the surface, promoting a woke agenda, such that new victim groups are being continuously created and then rewarded, it would seem that the betterment of these victims is of primary importance. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.
Rather, the raising up of Claudine Gay has brought dishonor to the once-esteemed Harvard. Putting biological males on women’s sports teams has hurt true female athletes, and making virtually every superhero movie for the last ten years about girlbosses and weak males has devastated the revenues of Disney and DC.
After considering the results of DEI, and Invoking inductive reasoning, the conclusion is inescapable: DEI exists primarily to destroy institutions. The end goal is that things will become so horrible that only a second coming of Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin will be able to pull us from the abyss.
Try this simple thought experiment: If your INTENT were to destroy Harvard, what better tack to take than making your president a woman with meager and also plagiarized scholarship?
Never forget how close we came to an American version of the Chinese social credit system with the proposed vaccine passports. As it is, thousands of non-compliant individuals were forced out of their jobs. Ironically, our pathetic military is now begging for the dismissed personnel to return, while still defending its ridiculous policies.
Jordan Schachtel and others are suggesting that we simply abandon our institutions, temporarily destroyed by diversity, equity, and inclusion. Instead, we should create new ones of our own. However, this sort of good-natured nihilism is far too reminiscent of the science fanboy notion that stupid errors in science will eventually correct themselves.
First of all, they don’t “correct themselves.” What happens in real life, as it did when women were dying during childbirth, was that Ignaz Semmelweis raised Hell about proper handwashing and aseptic technique. Semmelweis didn’t start his own maternity hospitals.
Besides, humans do not operate on an infinite timescale. Harvard has an illustrious history, and deserves to be saved, not abandoned. How many decades would it take to even begin to create an alternative Ivy League? People of good will must never be afraid to speak up, and fix what is broken.
First on the agenda is to crush the bogus notion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Well said. DEI is a sham. Has America lost all commonsense and passion for excellence?
